What We’ve Been Working On Lately …

Over the past couple of years, the Wilco team has had the good fortune to have been kept very busy with several exciting and varied residential projects.  The brief on each is always unique, and the challenge is to create the perfect vision of the architect, designer and client.  We are working on updating our gallery to include these new properties, so check back soon for inspiring photos!

Luxury Waterfront Home on Vancouver Island

  • This contemporary property was architect-designed and boasts the finest systems and materials, from radiant floor heating under limestone tile to bamboo and wenge cabinetry to a custom oversized fir pivot entry door.  The siting of the house takes in the wide ocean vistas through expansive Loewen windows, while clerestory windows admit complementary light from above.  This is truly the best of the best.

 Cosy Hill-top Cottage

  • Quality finishes were designed to be simple and neutral to provide a warm and inviting backdrop to the stunning views to the south.  This 1400 square foot cottage gives the impression of being much larger with vaulted ceilings in the generous greatroom and multiple French doors leading to a wrap-around porch, bringing to mind the charm of the deep south.

  Zen House in the Trees

  • Gracefully influenced by Japanese aesthetic, this appealing home is set in a grove of fir and arbutus.  The natural interior finishes lend an understated elegance and augment the feeling of serenity and tranquility experienced in the exterior landscaping.  The Zen garden, a labour of love for the creative homeowners, showcases natural elements in stunning rockwork and eastern-inspired gates.

  Stunning Waterfront Family Home

  • Situated in an idyllic location on Ganges Harbour, this project began as a renovation of an existing older home.  In early days, it became apparent that the property could be dramatically improved by demolishing the house and building new.  The clients quickly decided to proceed, and the result is an exceptionally appealing and spacious family home with extraordinary views of harbour life from almost every room.  The abundant stonework inside and out compliments the seaside architecture, while the clients’ artistic flare is apparent in the choice of unique fixtures and hand-painted Mexican tiles.

Duplex Re-Build

  • The worst nightmare became reality for our clients when their home was gutted by fire.  We worked closely with 2 sets of homeowners and multiple insurance companies to re-build the houses, while staying within the budgets dictated.  This was a complicated project, but one that was extremely gratifying as we handed the clients back homes that were attractive, sound and above all, safe.

Building a home is an emotional journey, and working with clients to help them realize their goal is a privilege.  Regardless of whether the budget is modest or sizable, our job is to deliver a quality home that will stand the test of time.  And, just as importantly, we strive to replicate in lumber and nails that vision the homeowner imagined of their dream home.
