New Take on Old Fashioned Farmhouse

A new take on an old fashioned farmhouse. Serenely placed on a rise of land on 20 bucolic acres, the home has all the warmth of an old-style farmhouse with its bowed rooflines, open rafter tails and Dutch lap smooth sawed siding. The home’s earth colours inside and out reflect the peacefulness of the rural surroundings.

Vertical grain fir has been extensively used in wide window and door trims and in massive ceiling beams. And while the feel is retro, the green technology is new: the home boasts a heat pump, a Heat Recovery Ventilation System, a lighting and audio control system throughout the home, a recirculation hot water system and a 1,200 gallon storage tank for water from the artesian well.

The open floor plan with its masterfully crafted kitchen featuring custom millwork and its country dining and living rooms flow effortlessly into a sun room and to the large outdoor decks. The upstairs loft features a barrel vault fir tongue and groove ceiling that is repeated in eyebrow windows and echoed by the curved fir railing.

Upstairs bedrooms are quiet retreats while the space over the three-car garage is an airy exercise room with ensuite bath.
